CO · 001 — About the School

A quiet school
built around reading

Latentry was set up as a small, deliberate place for people who want to understand AI properly — through reading, reflection, and hands-on exercises, rather than passive watching.

HIS · 001 — Our Story

How Latentry came to be

Latentry started from a straightforward observation: most AI learning resources are built around video and speed. Courses pile up in libraries, completion rates stay low, and learners move on without feeling they understood much. A few people in Subang Jaya, who had spent years working in software and data work, thought there was room for something different.

The school opened in early 2023 with a single reading path focused on the foundations of machine learning. Materials were written, structured like a reader rather than a playlist, and designed to be read once thoroughly rather than skimmed and skipped. The first cohort was small — eighteen participants — and the feedback was clear enough to keep going.

Over the following months, three reading paths took shape: a standalone introductory pass, a twelve-week cohort for those who wanted guided work with a Python component, and a nine-month programme for learners who wanted to build something more substantial. Each path follows the same quiet, reading-room model: written material, reflection prompts, a discussion thread, and — in the longer paths — mentor feedback on submitted work.

Latentry remains a small school. That is a deliberate choice. The team believes a smaller intake means more careful reading of each submission and more considered feedback. The school does not issue formal qualifications or accredited credentials. What it offers is a structured way to read seriously about AI development — and people to discuss that reading with.

MIS · 001

Our mission

To give working adults in Malaysia a thoughtful way into AI development — through reading, structured exercises, and the kind of feedback that treats each submission as worth engaging with.

VAL · 001

What we value

  • Depth over volume in every module
  • Honesty about what the school is and is not
  • Small cohort sizes and careful feedback
  • Accessible pricing in Malaysian Ringgit
TM · 001 — The Readers

The people behind the reading room

Latentry is run by a small team with backgrounds in software development, data work, and adult education. Everyone involved came to teaching from practice, not the other way around.

AZ

Ahmad Zulkifli

Reading Director

Ahmad spent eleven years in backend development before moving into curriculum design. He oversees the structure and sequencing of all reading paths at Latentry.

NR

Nurul Rashidah

Cohort Lead

Nurul leads the Guided Reading Cohort and manages written feedback on submitted exercises. Her background is in data analysis and applied statistics.

TH

Tan Hui Wen

Programme Mentor

Hui Wen works with Library Programme participants on milestone reviews and portfolio work. She brings seven years of experience in machine learning engineering.

QS · 001 — How We Work

Standards we hold ourselves to

Careful content review

Every module goes through at least two review rounds before publication — once for technical accuracy and once for reading clarity. We update material when the field moves.

Data privacy, handled quietly

Latentry collects only what is needed to manage enrolment and correspondence. Learner data is not shared with third parties. We comply with Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act.

Written, not automated feedback

In cohort and programme paths, every submitted exercise receives a handwritten response from a reader. No automated grading, no generic rubrics — just observations specific to the work.

Managed cohort sizes

We cap cohort intake to keep the discussion threads meaningful and feedback turnaround reasonable. When a cohort is full, we open a waiting list rather than stretch capacity.

Transparent about scope

Latentry does not issue formal qualifications. We say so plainly on every page. The value of participation is what you learn and build, not a certificate attached to the end of it.

Responsive support, in local hours

Enquiries and support messages are answered during Malaysian business hours, Monday to Friday. Weekend messages receive a reply on Monday morning.

SEO · 001 — About Our Approach

AI development learning, approached differently

Latentry occupies a small corner of the AI education space in Malaysia — the part where depth matters more than speed, and where reading replaces the scroll-and-skip patterns of most video platforms. The school draws on a model closer to a postgraduate reading list than a MOOC: materials are selected with care, the sequence is intentional, and the expected mode of engagement is sustained attention rather than quick comprehension checks.

The three reading paths at Latentry sit at different levels of commitment and depth. The Reading Room Pass suits those in early exploration — people who want to read around the subject before deciding whether to go further. The Guided Reading Cohort suits people who have decided to go further and who want the structure of a cohort and the discipline of weekly live sessions alongside their own reading. The Library Programme is for those who want to work through something substantial over nine months, building a portfolio of written and applied work along the way.

All three paths are delivered in English and priced in Malaysian Ringgit. The school is based in Subang Jaya, Selangor, and the team is reachable during standard Malaysian business hours. Latentry is not affiliated with any university or accrediting body, and does not issue recognised credentials. What it offers is a serious, well-maintained reading programme for people who want to understand AI development on their own terms.
