By week six I had written Python that actually did something useful — pulled a dataset, cleaned it, ran a simple model. The feedback on my exercises was specific each time, not just "good effort".

The mentor feedback at each milestone was genuinely useful. My M3 submission came back with four paragraphs of specific observations, which I read three times.

Three participants, three different paths
Hafiz Azman
Reading Room Pass
BEFORE
Hafiz worked in logistics planning and had read news articles about AI but could not connect them to anything technical. He enrolled in the Reading Room Pass to close that gap.
DURING
He read one module per week over eight weeks, completing the reflection prompts and posting two questions in the discussion thread. The self-paced format suited his schedule.
AFTER
Hafiz now follows industry discussions with a working understanding of the technical concepts involved. He plans to enrol in the Guided Cohort in the second half of 2025.
Chong Kai Lin
Guided Reading Cohort
BEFORE
A teacher at a secondary school in Puchong, Kai Lin wanted to understand the AI tools being discussed in education circles. She had no programming background but was comfortable with sustained reading.
DURING
She attended all twelve weekly sessions, submitted eleven of twelve exercise sets, and received written feedback on each. The Python exercises were challenging in weeks four to six but manageable with the reading material as context.
AFTER
Kai Lin can now write basic Python scripts for data tasks and has a clear mental model of how classification and generation models work. She uses this in curriculum planning discussions.
Mohd Aizuddin
Library Programme
BEFORE
Aizuddin had completed two shorter online courses on ML before discovering Latentry. He felt he understood individual techniques but lacked a coherent picture of how they fit together.
DURING
Over nine months, he worked through all four milestone stages, submitting portfolio work at each one. The mentor reviews were detailed — M2 feedback ran to six paragraphs and led him to revise his approach to feature engineering.
AFTER
Aizuddin left with a portfolio of four documented projects and a clearer sense of where he wants to take his development work. He describes the nine months as the most methodical period of learning he has had since university.
